This is a problem that tends to be random and thus we have not been able to isolate the cause.  We suspect it has to do with the configuration of Windows 95 and Windows 98 memory.  It is an infrequent problem that tends to happen on older systems that have had many programs installed on them.

We can work around the problem by downloading the the following zip file, unzipping it to your payday\exe folder, and by starting your Payday program with a batch file that calls FOXPROL.EXE with "payday" as a parameter.

In more detail, instructions are as follows:

1. Download fox.zip

2. Unzip fox.zip into \payday\exe folder

3. Create a Batch file with the following lines:

cd\payday\exe
FOXPROL payday

4. Modify your Payday Shortcut to point to the Batch file created above.
